Vision & Mission
Palo Alto Middle College is a nontraditional high school program serving sophomores and juniors from PAUSD. The program is housed at Foothill Community College and is designed for students who are academically talented and capable of doing college-level work, but who, for a variety of reasons, do not feel connected to their traditional high school.
The Middle College program targets bright, college-bound students who may not be performing up to their full potential or who are ready for a change from the traditional high school environment. It is specifically tailored for sophomores and juniors with a serious academic focus, who are seeking an alternative to a comprehensive high school. By interacting with more mature students and taking advantage of advanced college-level coursework, students often develop greater responsibility and a strong sense of self-direction.
Vision
Our innovative Middle College High School is designed to inspire a love for learning and preparing students for success in both higher education and the workforce. We aim to create an environment where students are motivated and supported to reach their full academic potential through:
- Cohort based small learning community
- Flexible scheduling
- Diverse experiential opportunities
Mission
Empowering high school students to achieve their academic potential by providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment through a collaborative middle college high school experience that integrates college preparation, career education, work experience, and community engagement.
The mission and vision of PAUSD MC High School are adapted from AB 413, which amended Ed Code - SEC. 6. Section 11300.
